Bike-safety bill’s focus
Statistics on bicycle crashes will have to be compiled and reported to the City Council under a bill set for vote tomorrow.
The bill — which the council Transportation Committee approved yesterday — would require the Bloomberg administration to track crashes involving cyclists beginning Oct. 1.
The data will include borough and precinct breakdowns on the number of injuries and fatalities.
Transportation Committee Chairman James Vacca (D-Bronx) said the information will help the council work with police on enforcing traffic rules.
