“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart weighed in on the controversial new Citi Bike program — declaring that New York City “basically imported Europe’s most boring idea.”

The Comedy Central star got big laughs Thursday night on air, saying, “The idea of New Yorkers sharing anything other than sexually transmitted diseases is wackadoo.”

Summing up the attacks against Citi Bike, Stewart said, “Oh, they’re not safe. They don’t work. Looks like s–t. Blah, blah, blah. You know we used to say the same thing about the Irish! And look at them now — they’re running the joint!”

Stewart even dispatched someone to interview New Yorkers about the program.

While West Village residents complained about the loss of parking spots, Brooklynites clamored for more bike stations in their neighborhood.

“Where’s Citi Bike where we really need Citi Bike? Ain’t no Citi Bike in the hood!” yelled a man in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Citi Bike launched May 27 and already has over 600 stations.
