A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a minivan in Soho today.

Fire officials said the accident took place at the intersection of West Broadway and W. Houston St at 4:20 p.m. and witnesses said it appeared the motorcylist ran a red light.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said. He was not immediately identified.

The driver of the minivan, a Chrysler with New Jersey plates, was not hurt.

The biker was eastbound on W. Houston when it struck the minivan which was crossing W. Houston from the northbound lanes of West. Broadway..

Gene Starominsky, a 39-year-old mortgage broker, said he was sitting at an outdoor table at Dos Caminos restaurant when he saw the accident.

“It was plain and simple,” Starominsky said. “The motorcycle hit the throttle and he ran the red light. He hit the van like pancake.”
