Maybe “Minotaur” was taken.

The owner of the Hollywood, Fla., nightclub Gryphon has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the owner of the Manhattan nightclub Griffin — complaining that he ripped off his name.

“I was surprised,” Michael Ault said of Hawaiian Tropic Zone co-owner Adam Hoch’s name for his Gansevoort Street club, which opened in March.

The names are spelled differently but sound exactly alike and have the same meaning: a mythical creature with an eagle’s head and wings and a lion’s body.

If the name’s not changed, a suit is likely, Ault warned, noting that Hoch had yet to respond to the letter.
