Business actually grew at Chick-fil-A despite boycotts by gay groups and outrage over its president’s criticism of same-sex marriage.

The number of people who said they visited the fast-food chain rose 2.2 percent in the third quarter of 2012 compared with the same period in 2011, according to a survey of more than 30,000 consumers.

The bump came after boss Dan Cathy said he supported the “biblical definition” of marriage.
