New York native J. Bruce Llewellyn, one of the nation’s most renowned black businessmen, has died at 82.

He died April 7 in Manhattan from renal failure, said his wife, Shahara Ahmad-Llewellyn.

Llewellyn was best known for sharp business judgments that led him to become the majority owner of the highly successful Philadelphia Bottling Co.
