MINEOLA, N.Y. — A Brooklyn contractor has pleaded guilty to accusations it failed to pay a prevailing wage to 17 employees who performed work at the site of this year’s U.S. Open golf tournament.

SB Waterproofing will pay $76,247 in restitution to the workers. It also will pay a $500 fine.

The company had a $430,000 contract to perform repairs and painting at the Bethpage State Park clubhouse ahead of this year’s tournament.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice says the project’s prevailing wage was $58.94 per hour. She says some workers got paid less than the prevailing rate while others did not get paid at all.

The U.S. Open was played at the Bethpage “Black Course” last June.
