At least one bike-lane plan has screeched to a halt.

In the face of strong opposition from residents and local politicians, the city’s Department of Transportation is dropping plans for a controversial four-mile bike lane that would have run along Bay Ridge Parkway in Brooklyn, from a connecting path at Shore Road to Bay Parkway in Bensonhurst.

“Bike lanes have a place . . . but not on Bay Ridge Parkway,” said Councilman Domenic Recchia (D).

“The street is extremely narrow, which means people would be fighting to get around each other . . . it would only be a matter of time before somebody got hurt.”
