An 8-year-old boy burned to death early yesterday after a space heater in his family’s Brooklyn home caught fire, police sources say.

Ashton Charles was asleep in a bunk bed when the blaze ripped through the Flatbush building on Bedford Avenue at 2:50 a.m., authorities say.

Sixty firefighters extinguished the flames shortly after 3:30 a.m.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The mother was screaming, saying, ‘Where’s my kid, where’s my kid?’ ” neighbor Sunita Armogan, 47, said.

Landlord Nolan Cox would only say, “I’m trying to find out information myself,” before leaving with an insurance agent.

A woman who identified herself as Ashton’s mother returned to the scene yesterday afternoon.

“Can we just look at the house one more time?” she said.
