State officials are pulling the plug on a controversial plan to shut down Brooklyn’s 155-year-old Long Island College Hospital.

Health-care professionals and activists who fought to retain the cash-strapped Cobble Hill facility hailed yesterday’s decision, saying that closing its emergency room would endanger the community.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center, which acquired the 506-bed hospital in 2011, said it would now seek another provider of “health-care services” to run the money-hemorrhaging LICH.
