A hit-run driver struck and killed a 73-year-old Brooklyn man just steps away from his home late last night, authorities said.

The tragedy happened as Hugo Janssen tried to cross Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park.

“He was a great guy,” said his grief-stricken daughter, Denise, at Lutheran Hospital.

She said her dad, who retired after working many years in a fabric store, had four children and two grandchildren. “He was a good grandfather,” she said.

Janssen, who emigrated from Peru 20 years ago, had been a “very active member” of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in the neighborhood, she added.

Witness Anthony Delione, said he was driving when “the SUV in front of me hit something. When I got closer, I saw it was a person lying flat on his face.”

He said the SUV kept going, adding. “I’m upset I didn’t get the license.”
