A Brooklyn man who traded gunfire with cops outside a Bushwick nightclub was sentenced today to 12 years in prison.
Darryl Jones was originally charged with attempted murder, but the negotiated plea deal puts him behind bars for aggravated assault.
Prosecutors said Jones, 22, shot two people in the club after a dispute on August 29, 2008, then turned on cops who responded to the scene.
The suspect pulled a weapon from his waistband and fired several shots at the officers. Sergeant Fabian Sanchez returned fire and wounded Jones.
Sanchez received a Law Enforcement Appreciation Awards from the Brooklyn DA’s office for his response.
