Brooklyn prosecutors today dropped the charges against a man beaten by cops who wrongly thought he was trespassing in a Brooklyn synagogue two weeks ago.

“After review of all available evidence I have decided to dismiss the charges against Ehud Halevy,” Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes said in a statement.

Two cops were caught on film repeatedly punching Ehud Halevy, 21, on October 8 after a security guard at the Alternative Learning Institute for Young Adults in Crown Heights mistakenly thought the sleeping Halevy was trespassing. Halevy had actually been granted permission to stay at the center for a month.

Halevy was arrested and booked for assault, obstructing governmental administration, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, harassment and pot possession – but the charges have been dropped.

“The problem is that he wasn’t trespassing,” said a law-enforcement source. “So the other charges don’t hold up.”

The 49-year-old cop caught on tape repeatedly punching Halevy was placed on modified assignment.
