A 15-year-old Brooklyn boy has been charged with attempted murder in the brutal stabbing of a 12-year-old friend after the two got into a fight in Queens.
Wayne Henderson, of Brooklyn, was arraigned Monday on charges of attempted murder and assault for allegedly knifing Luis Martinez several times after an argument in Highland Park.
Authorities say Henderson and 12-year-old Luis Martinez were hanging out Saturday night when an argument escalated to violence.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said the victim suffered more than a dozen stab wounds and is hospitalized in serious condition. Brown said the boy’s left and right jugular veins were cut, causing extreme blood loss.
Police said Martinez, Henderson and a 14-year-old girl went to the park at about 9:30 p.m. to smoke pot, and an argument soon erupted.
The unidentified girl, who is pregnant, was released after questioning.
A lawyer for Henderson did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Henderson faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted as a juvenile offender.
