A Brooklyn woman tearfully apologized as she pleaded guilty Tuesday to tearing a cop’s scrotum.
Elen Murell agreed to a two-year prison term for the 2008 attack on Officer Derek O’Sullivan in her Crown Heights home.
When she finishes her stretch upstate for felonious assault, she is expected to be deported to her native Grenada, said a spokesman for Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes.
“Did you interfere with a police officer performing his lawful duty?” asked Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Sheryl Parker.
“Yes,” Murell replied.
Murell then asked ADA Lewis Lieberman to apologize to O’Sullivan, an act both unsolicited and unrehearsed, according to her lawyer Michael Millet.
O’Sullivan suffered a torn testicle that required surgery to repair.
She was facing up to 15 years in prison as her trial began on Tuesday when she changed her mind to spare her family the pressure of the trial, Millet said.
“This morning she decided to take a plea and get it over with,” Millet said. “That’s it in a nutshell.”
