Police and state wildlife officials have captured a black bear in Englewood, N.J., just a few miles from the George Washington Bridge. Cops tracked the bear into Denning Park Monday before losing sight of it.
Then Tuesday, officials located the animal again and eventually shot it with a tranquilizer.
The bear was splashing around in the stream behind some factories on Coolidge Avenue, NorthJersey.com reported.
Kelcey Burguess, a biologist with the state Division of Fish and Wildlife, said the bear appeared to be about 2 years old. Biologists tattooed the bear’s upper lip and will also tag, examine, and release it into a wildlife sanctuary.
