A top aide to Mayor de Blasio suggested the suburbs pitch in to help with the city’s affordable housing crisis — but neighboring counties aren’t too keen on the idea.

City Planning Commission chairman Carl Weisbrod said at a Crain’s breakfast Tuesday that there’s no way the city can meet the demand for affordable apartments on its own and that it’s time to start planning on a regional basis.

“Even if we hit all of our targets, it won’t fully solve the housing crisis in the next decade,” he said.

“We should be looking more broadly at the metro region. Our continued health really depends on the vitality of all of our surrounding counties, as well as the city itself.”

But suburban county executives were in no rush to sign up.

“We have our own needs and challenges and we can’t absorb the city’s,” said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.
