Public Advocate Bill de Blasio yesterday called for an inspector general for the City Council, which is run by his Democratic mayoral rival Christine Quinn.
“Speaker Quinn actually defended the broken status quo,” he said, speaking about her support of member items that were at the heart of four council-member arrests on her watch.
Quinn’s aides said that because of her reforms, the latest councilman arrested, Dan Halloran, would not have been able to get away with an alleged scheme to rip off member items.
