Mayor Bloomberg needed an assist from the bench yesterday to measure up to Knick star Amar’e Stoudemire.

After teaming up to open a new basketball court at a Brooklyn community center, the 5-foot-7 mayor hopped on the locker-room bench to pose alongside the 6-foot-10 NBA giant.

The court — originally used at Radio City Music Hall during last year’s inaugural World Basketball Festival — will now benefit kids at the Taylor-Wythe Community Center in Williamsburg.

Bloomberg lauded Stoudemire’s commitment to city kids.

“Today is a great example of what can be accomplished when people give back to their community,” he said.
