Mayor Bloomberg’s technology commissioner has finally shut down her active Florida voter registration – but only after The Post reported she and her husband were potentially involved in a double-dipping scam in two states.
Carole Wallace Post, who has been simultaneously registered to vote in West Palm Beach and Manhattan for years, sent a letter this week to the Palm Beach County Board of Elections stating that she is no longer a resident of the Sunshine State.
“We received a letter just today asking us to remove Carole Wallace from our voting rolls as she lives in New York. We’re deleting her from our records,” said Susan Booker, supervisor of elections.
Post, who is registered to vote under her maiden name, and her husband were getting property tax breaks in Florida and New York at the same time, between 2005 and 2008, by claiming both were their primary residences.
Post’s spokesman, Nick Sbordone, said the commissioner lives full-time in Manhattan and her husband spends most of his time in their Florida home, but the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Office is investigating the matter.
