The nonprofit Blue Lives Matter NYC went to Maryland on Sunday to donate 20 Narcan kits to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s K9 Unit.
The donation will outfit each member with the life-saving overdose medication.
The gift was inspired by recent news that one of the Unit’s dogs had been seriously sickened after accidentally ingesting narcotics during a search, said the group’s founder, Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice.
Unlike in the NYPD, the K9 unit did not have access to the costly drug.
Blue Lives Matter NYC raised money for the donation by selling K9 Paws Tees.
