The “Boulevard of Death” in Queens continued to live up to its notorious nickname yesterday as an elderly man was fatally struck by a car as he jaywalked across the treacherous crossing.
Robert Borchers, 76, had just bought a newspaper and was crossing Queens Boulevard at 80th Road in Kew Gardens at 5:30 a.m. when a marked Correction Department vehicle slammed into him, police and witnesses said.
The driver, a civilian Correction Department employee, 40, remained on the scene and was not charged with a crime, sources said.
