The 22-year-old passenger of a BMW was killed when the car’s 19-year-old driver slammed into a tractor-trailer on the Cross Bronx Expressway early Wednesday, authorities said.
The teen motorist was heading west on the roadway’s left lane — near the exits for the Major Deegan Expressway — at around 1:45 a.m. when he tried to pass the tractor, cops said.
But he ended up hitting the 2021 Kenworth Tractor-Trailer on the rear driver’s side, instead — becoming pinned between the truck and the concrete divider, according to authorities.

The unidentified passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Seth GottfriedHis passenger, Sulayman Njie, suffered severe head and body trauma and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died, police said.
The BMW driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital in stable condition, cops said.
