CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — Long Island homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the bodies of a young woman and toddler found shot to death in a wooded lot.
Police described the woman as white or Hispanic in her late teens or early 20s. The child found with her was a 1- or 2-year-old boy, also white or Hispanic, reports the Associated Press.
The bodies were discovered around 7 a.m. near a Raymour and Flanigan store along Suffolk Avenue in Central Islip, reports 1010Wins.com.
Suffolk County Police Lt. Gerard Pelkofsky says a passerby found the bodies while walking to work on Friday morning, reports the Associated Press.
Pelkofsky said it appears they were killed in the woods.
