FREEPORT, N.Y. — Police on Long Island say they’re investigating the discovery of a body in a vehicle that was on fire behind a synagogue.
Nassau County police say in a press release that police and fire officials responded to a vehicle fire behind the B’nai Israel Temple in Freeport on last night.
Police say the body was found in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. They say the victim’s gender and race and the model of the vehicle are unknown.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10 p.m. and taken to the county medical examiner’s office.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
