The body of the teenager who went missing in the waters off of Rockaway Beach after being swept away by a riptide was discovered on Tuesday morning, police said.
Lamine Sarr, 17, washed up along the shore near Beach 97th Street at about 11 a.m., authorities said. His body was clad in black shorts and blue boxer shorts, law enforcement sources said.
The teen was pulled out to sea by a riptide while he was swimming with two friends near his home on Beach 86th Street — less than half a mile away — at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Sarr’s mother had been hoping to recover her boy’s body so she could hold a burial in his native Senegal.
“We need to get help to send the body back to Senegal,” Khadi Sarr, 51, told The Post on Monday. “That’s the only thing I want … to send him back home.”
The city medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
