A casket left on a funeral home’s front steps sparked fears of a “dead body” on Saturday, a new video shows.

“Check this s–t out, they dropped the body off in front of a funeral home that was closed,” a man can be heard saying in the clip, which was posted to Twitter.

The clip shows what appears to be a coffin covered with a blue tarp resting in front of the La Paz Funeral Home on East 149th Street in Mott Haven.

But it turns out the casket was empty, according to cops, who responded to the funeral home around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Four NYPD cops, all wearing masks, appear in the video as a crowd gathers around the funeral home.

It was unclear when the casket was left there, and the funeral home could not be reached for comment Thursday.

The NYPD did not immediately respond with additional details. A spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also did not return emails.

The city has struggled to keep up with scores of dead bodies piling up amid the coronavirus outbreak — forcing unclaimed bodies to share a temporary mass burial site on Hart Island.

Over in Brooklyn, the infamous English Brothers Funeral Home in Sheepshead Bay had 20 bodies piled outside because it had no more room inside.
