The body of a woman wearing only underwear was found on a Long Island beach early Friday, authorities said.

An early-morning jogger tipped off police around 5:30 a.m. after spotting the woman along the Long Beach shoreline between Monroe Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard, a spokeswoman for the Long Beach Police Department said.

Cops found the woman, who is believed to be approximately 40 to 50 years old, lying face down and dressed only in undergarments.

The Long Beach Fire Department pronounced her dead at the scene.

The incident is still being investigated, officials said.
