A woman was arrested at JFK Airport after she tried to smuggle nearly $290,000 in counterfeit currency into the country, authorities said yesterday.

Jessica Tatiano Lucio arrived on a TAM Airlines flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, that originated in Uruguay, officials said. US customs officers allegedly found the bills in a suitcase.

Lucio pleaded not guilty in Brooklyn federal court and was released on $150,000 bond.
