Murder charges were filed yesterday against a 25-year-old New Jersey man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 2 1/2-year-old daughter, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Tyrail Jones, formerly of East Orange, had been living with little Alexis Robinson and her mother in Newark. He was not Alexis’ father, prosecutors noted.

Alexis was taken to the Beth Israel Medical Center on Wednesday but didn’t make it.

An autopsy determined that the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.
