Police Commissioner Bill Bratton blasted J’Ouvert on Wednesday, saying, “No one in the Police Department is going to tell you they’re happy with J’Ouvert.
“It is always a disaster waiting to happen,” Bratton told NY1 of the violence-plagued predawn Flatbush festival, at which two people were slain Monday.
His comments came a day after Mayor De Blasio said he intends to let the festival to continue, despite the violence.
“I think to wheel away a celebration involving a quarter of a million people doesn’t make sense,” the mayor said Tuesday.
Bratton did not explicitly call for J’Ouvert to be canceled or comment on de Blasio’s decision to let it go on.
