Bridgegate figure, ex-Christie aide Bridget Anne Kelly running for office
Bridgegate defendant Bridget Anne Kelly admitted that she “bought into the company line” when asked on Tuesday why she was so disdainful of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, who was on the outs with Gov. Chris Christie in 2013.
Prosecutors were trying to show that Kelly froze out Fulop, just as she and Port Authority executive Bill Baroni worked together to retaliate against Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich by shutting down entrance lanes to the George Washington Bridge.
Under cross-examination, the government brought up e-mails Kelly was copied on ordering “radio silence” toward both mayors.
“Radio silence. His name comes right after Mayor Fulop,” Bridgegate mastermind David Wildstein wrote to Kelly after Sokolich complained about the closures.
“I read the radio silence . . . to mean that they had not connected,” Kelly insisted in court.
