Former Stanford swimmer Brock Turner lost a bid to have his rape conviction overturned on Wednesday.

An appeals court in San Francisco ruled against Turner’s request for a new trial and upheld his sexual assault conviction.

The three-judge panel of the 6th District Court of Appeal agreed that Turner had received a fair trial.

Turner was convicted in 2016 of sexually assaulting a young, intoxicated woman outside a frat party.

Although prosecutors argued for a lengthy sentence, Turner received just 6 months in jail from Judge Aaron Persky.

Persky was recalled from his position by voters in June.
