A brush fire near Metro North tracks in the Bronx stalled trains for nearly an hour at the start of the holiday weekend, authorities said.

The small fire broke out at about 5:50 p.m. in between the Wakefield and Woodlawn stations, an MTA spokesperson said.

Train employees shut off power to the rails so firefighters could extinguish the blaze, authorities said.

The fire was put out and trains were running again about 40 minutes later, authorities said.

Trains on the New Haven and New Canaan Branch lines faced significant delays of up to an hour because of the disruption caused by the fire, Metro North said.
