NYPD officers found a man lying face down with a pistol in his hand and a gunshot wound in his back in the Bronx on Sunday morning, police said.

Police went to 2669 Briggs Avenue around 2:50 a.m. after gunshots triggered a ShotSpotter alert there. They found the man with the firearm in hand, according to cops.

The man, who wasn’t immediately identified, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his back, cops said.

Officers found one 9mm shell casing on the scene. ShotSpotter uses sensors to detect gunshots around the city.
