A Bronx man was charged with murder in a decades-old slaying of a 36-year-old woman who was found choked to death inside her home, the NYPD announced Monday.
Gregory Fleetwood, 66, was arrested in the strangling of Jasmine Porter, who was found unconscious with neck trauma on Feb. 5, 1996 at her Bronx residence, police said.
Fleetwood was tied to the murder after DNA evidence recovered from the scene in the early stages of the investigation was retested in 2021, police and law enforcement sources said.

Fleetwood already had a history of violence towards women before Porter’s death.
In 1987, he was arrested and charged with manslaughter for strangling a woman he knew in the Bronx, according to police and sources. He served seven years for that attack, police said.
