Two teenage girls disappeared from their Bronx homes just blocks away from each other and only days apart, police said.
Shelsie Garcia, 15, left her apartment on Dewey Avenue near Quincy Avenue in Throgs Neck around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, telling her mom she and a male friend were going to the bus stop, police and law enforcement sources said. Her mother hasn’t seen her since.
Shelsie, who police sources said has a history of running away from home, is approximately 5 feet 4 and 150 pounds, with brown eyes and red hair, cops said.
Four days later, 16-year-old Luciana Ramos went missing from her Dewey Avenue home — just over a block away, between Swinton and Balcom avenues, police said.
Luciana was last seen leaving her apartment around 7 p.m. Monday, cops said.
Her mother also told police the teen has gone missing multiple times in the past, although the previous incidents were not reported to authorities.
Ramos is approximately 5 feet 11 and 210 pounds with long black hair. She was last seen wearing dark jeans and a white shirt with a black pattern.
Police said the incidents did not immediately appear to be connected.
