A 26-year-old dad who had been celebrating with friends and family at a baby shower in Brooklyn was shot dead when he went outside, cops said Saturday.
Courtney Tingle was leaving the celebration at a building on Washington Avenue near Dean Street, which houses the Abundant Life Church and the Hope City Empowerment Center, around 10 p.m. Friday when a man shot him during a dispute, cops said.
Tingle was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect took off and remained at large Saturday.
Outside a makeshift memorial at Tingle’s home at the Whitman Houses, one friend called him “a good friend” and a “good father.”
Tingle has a 4 or 5-year-old son named CJ, according to friends and family.
“He was funny,” a teenage cousin who declined to give her name recalled. “He always took care of all the kids.”
No arrests had been made Saturday afternoon.
