A home health aide in Brooklyn is looking at a year in jail for abusing an elderly patient in her care, the Brooklyn DA announced today.

Elizabeth Peters, 53, was caught on surveillance video pulling out a chair the victim was leaning on, causing the 86-year-old woman to fall down, DA Charles Hynes said.

The surveillance equipment, set up by the victim’s son inside her Bensonhurst home, showed Peters watching television for about 20 minutes while her charge, who suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, lay on the floor.

Peters then dragged the elderly woman by her ankles across the room several times during the next hour, the DA said.

The victim’s family reported the incident to authorities after her daughter came home and found her mother still on the floor.

Peters was convicted by a jury Tuesday of endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.

She is due to be sentenced on Jan. 5.
