A raging five-alarm fire tore through a Brooklyn apartment building last night — injuring nearly two dozen firefighters and leaving about 100 residents homeless.
The fire, which erupted at around 6:40 p.m. on the fourth floor of the building on East 29th Street near Avenue D in East Flatbush, injured four residents, officials said.
None of the injuries were considered serious, but 15 of the 20 wounded smoke-eaters were taken to New York and Maimonides hospitals.
The ferocious blaze, which was battled by 200 Bravest, was still not extinguished as of early this morning.
One resident said a neighbor, with his 2-year- old child, was banging on his window to escape the fire.
“The guy came through the window . . . he had nothing. I gave him shoes, a coat, and a sweater.”
