A Brooklyn man was convicted Tuesday of raping his teenage daughter in a bizarre Brooklyn Supreme Court trial that included a recording of the man apologizing to his daughter.
Kevin Bartholomew, 39, was found guilty of felony rape for the attack on his daughter in their Prospect Lefferts Garden home on New Year’s Day 2011.
Defense attorney Douglas Rankin said the tape secretly made by the daughter actually recorded Bartholomew apologizing for an argument he had with his girlfriend – not for any sexual assault.
“My client will be appealing,” said Rankin.
The jury trial began last week before Judge Michael Gary. Bartholomew could face up to 25 years behind bars on the rape rap.
