A blood-soaked Brooklyn man was seen sitting outside his Starrett City building naked, near the body of his mortally wounded dog moments before his mother was found dead in the family’s apartment, neighbors told The Post.
Donna Hyman, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 7 p.m. inside the 11th floor pad at 1500 Hornell Loop, after an apparent dispute with her own son, who was also injured, police said.
The son, 36, who has not been charged or publicly identified, was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, according to authorities.
Neighbors described a gruesome scene.
“It looked like the dog was stabbed to death,” said one neighbor who was parking their car as the situation unfolded and approached to see the animal lying in a flower bed near the building’s entrance.

“Then I saw the son sitting by the dog, with no clothes on. He was talking to my neighbor. No socks, nothing, penis, everything, covered in blood. Then a couple of neighbors brought him [into the lobby.] Then the paramedics came.”
The apparently disturbed man could be heard saying, “Can somebody help me?” before saying, “Never mind, nobody can help me,” said resident Johadaah Murphy, who went outside to see what the commotion was about after hearing about the incident from neighbors.

“We didn’t know if he was stabbed or anything so we called the ambulance. He was in and out, in and out.”
Hyman, who lived with her son for two or three years in the apartment, was “a very nice lady,” said the anonymous neighbor.

The dog was also killed in the incident, authorities said. Donna Hyman/Facebook“It’s so sad. Very respectful. I always had conversations with her walking her dog. She had a golden doodle. I would always see her dog be pulling her, be barking. And she would say, this dog, this dog.”

“We’re traumatized. One of our esteemed community members is gone. It’s very sad. It’s heartbreaking.”
