Namaste away from the bad vibes.

Thousands of yogis Om’ed together in Bryant Park Wednesday to shake off the bad juju that Mercury in retrograde wrought this summer — which manifested for some in injuries and bouts of inexplicable hysterics for some participants.

The serenity-seeking fitness buffs were eagerly reaching for some “retroshade” in the aftermath of the rough near-month-long planet alignment, notoriously believed to cause misfortune by those into astrology.

“Mercury retrograde usually is not a good time, but I guess the yoga helps to balance my emotion and the body as well. I hope this is going to bring a good week for me since I did just my yoga class,” said Jenny Romanelli, who rushed from work to attend the free class to clear the “fogginess,” overthinking and forgetfulness that plagued her Mercury Retrograde season.

Mercury retrograde is a period in which the first planet appears to move backwards in the sky, and has become synonymous with bad luck.

It typically strikes three or four times a year, the most recent occurring from July 17 to August 11.

Yogi Jo Murdock, who led Wednesday’s class, said it has become a “stereotype” that Mercury retrograde is to blame for bad things, but rather that it is a “time of reflection.”

“We all need a reset. You turn your phone off, you turn your computer off — hopefully it resets and it works better. Think about it,” said Murdock, who runs the virtual practice Flowwj0.

“It’s kind of like when you get a review at work or you’re getting feedback on what it is you do. It can be nerve-wracking, but it really is meant to help you … Maybe somebody read you your rights, but if you take it in, well, it is a tool.”

But plenty of her 1,200 students came ready to shake off the rough period and start anew.

“Things tend to go wrong when Mercury’s in retrograde,” said Kendall Currell, a retiree who has attended the yoga class in search of “anything you can do to avoid the bad juju.”

“It was actually a very challenging time because I went to the West Coast to help my eldest child pack up their house to move to the East Coast. There were those moments because that’s not an easy thing to do … I managed to fall and kind of get a bone bruise! So I guess that counts as Mercury in retrograde.”

For Sara Souici, who was visiting from France, this past retrograde included “a lot of days where I broke down, a lot of binge eating, a lot of binge watching comfort shows” and second-guessing herself.

“It’s a lot about energies. In my personal case, Mercury being in retrograde makes me a little bit more anxious, maybe more tense, and nervous,” she said.
