The bus company at the center of the deadly Bronx crash has a checkered safety record rife with failed inspections and fatigued drivers, records show.

Brooklyn-based World Wide Tours was involved in two previous crashes that injured two passengers, according to the federal Department of Transportation.

Over the last two years, it ranked lower than 52 percent of other tour-bus operators for violating rules limiting drivers’ hours. It also ranked below 59 percent of other companies for vehicle maintenance.

Still, the business seemed to have cleaned up its act lately. It cleared all of its state inspections from 2009 to 2010.

The National Transportation Safety Board yesterday launched an investigation into the company’s operations in conjunction with the State Highway Patrol, a federal DOT spokeswoman said.

Company reps yesterday refused to answer questions about the violations.

NYPD detectives were seen leading an office manager from World Wide Tours’ Gowanus depot yesterday afternoon.
