A New Jersey school bus driver who got lost — and spent hours driving a group of kindergartners around in circles — was fired from the job, according to reports.

The unnamed male driver, who worked for the Montgomery Township School District, wasn’t familiar with the route and “took some wrong turns” on the first day of school, Superintendent Nancy Gartenberg said, according to the Central Jersey Courier News.

On Sept. 6, the driver picked up the students at Orchard Hill Elementary School in Skillman around 4 p.m. — and went missing until 6:15 p.m., angry mother Jennifer Lafaman said at a recent school board meeting, according to NJ.com.

“There is failure on every level,” Lafaman fumed.

Lafaman’s son was scheduled to reach the bus stop at 4:15 p.m. and she got worried when he hadn’t arrived by 5:15 p.m., she said.

She began driving around the area and spotted the bus “nowhere near our bus route” around 6:15 p.m., she said, adding she honked to get the driver’s attention.

When the driver pulled over, she grabbed her son off the bus — where kids were sweating without air conditioning — along with a neighbor’s child, she said.

School officials said the driver was “dismissed” for failing to practice the route before the first day of school, which is district policy.

There were also “communication issues” with the driver, according to Gartenberg, who apologized for the incident.

“We accept responsibility at the school level and at the Transportation Department for not immediately sending an email text to parents that we were later than anticipated,” Gartenberg said in an email, according to NJ.com.

“It was extremely hot that day, which added to the challenge for everyone, especially our parents,” she said.
