A 16-year-old girl was shot in the hip on a Bronx street yesterday by a deranged gunman who exited a city bus and suddenly opened fire on a group of high-school students, police said.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, after the 3:15 p.m. shooting near the Soundview Educational Complex.

She was standing with a group of kids near the Story Avenue school when the bullets started flying, sending the students running for their lives.

It was unclear if the shots were fired randomly or if one of the kids was the target.
