NEWARK, N.J. — A New York man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for the robbery of a Mariner’s Bank branch in Dumont, N.J.
Twenty-year-old Bourahima Quattara of the Bronx pleaded guilty in December.
Authorities say Quattara and an accomplice robbed the bank at gunpoint on July 30, 2009, taking nearly $150,000 in cash.
An eyewitness provided a description of their car. Police in Fort Lee gave chase, and NYPD officers arrested the men shortly afterward in the Bronx.
The accomplice, 19-year-old Alberto Marzan, also of the Bronx, pleaded guilty in November and was sentenced to 70 months in prison.
In addition to his 63-month prison term, Quattara also was sentenced Tuesday to three years of supervised release.
