The New York City man who was shown on video helping rescue a child from a burning building is being honored.
Horia Cretan is expected to receive a citation Friday from Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
Diaz says he wants to honor Cretan’s “heroism and bravery.” Diaz will present the citation at Cretan’s variety store.
On Wednesday, Cretan was in the store when he heard screams. He saw smoke billowing from a fourth-floor window.
Cretan used a ladder to climb the fire escape. Firefighter Jim Senk (sangk) handed the limp, unconscious 4-year-old boy to Cretan.
Cretan carried the boy to safety.
The child is expected to survive.
