The city’s next taxi could come equipped with a mini-fridge!
Karsan, the scrappy Turkish contender hoping to design the city’s “Taxi of Tomorrow,” revealed key elements of its concept car yesterday — including a driver’s compartment with a refrigerator.
Riders could have plug-in recharging ports for digital devices, an intercom for talking to drivers and the ability to print receipts.
Other possible features are adjustable headrests, reading lights and passenger-compartment temperature controls.
Karsan is competing against Ford and Nissan for the contract to create thousands of new cabs and design city cabs for more than 10 years, the company said.
Both competitors refused to reveal design details.
Sources said it will be several months before the Taxi and Limousine Commission names a winner.
A model of the Karsan car will be on display today at the Classic Car Club, at 250 Hudson St.
