Cable deal boosts Wi-Fi
Time Warner and Cablevision won extensions of their cable franchises to 2020 yesterday after agreeing to provide about $57 million in added services to the city.
The service most residents will notice is the addition of Wi-Fi to 32 parks within two years, valued at $10 million.
Cable subscribers will be able to log on for free. Others will have to pay 99 cents a day, after using 30 free minutes a month.
Both companies also agreed to add extra public and government channels.
